Over the past three months Moto asked me to try out the new Moto Z and all of its Moto Mods - some of you may have seen updates on my social media feeds. Now that I have given it a fair trial, I wanted to share some of my thoughts.
The smartphone market is certainly a competitive and potentially lucrative market, but we’ve only seen incremental changes to smartphones over the last 10 years. We all rush out to get the latest and greatest, but often they’re not much different than the phone we currently have.
That is until now! The Moto Z has revolutionized the way we see, use, and interact with our phones. The phone itself has everything you need with a simple and user-friendly operating system that would suit both young and old. But it’s the Moto Mods that make the phone stand out from the rest.
My phone is such an important part of my working and personal life that is has to be able to keep up with my crazy lifestyle. I needed the Moto Z to handle my workload, and it didn’t disappoint. It is fast, durable and has an all-day battery! What’s even better is the possibility to transform your smartphone with the removable Moto Mods- modular add-ons that enhance your smartphone’s capabilities.
The highlight for me was the Moto Insta-Share Projector which allows you to project up to 72 inches onto any surface – a wall, a ceiling, a sheet, etc. This was widely confirmed in the Baeumler household by the youngest members of our family. All four of my gang wanted to use the projector wherever they were. I had to hide it at one point because I found Lincoln using it under his sheets when he should have been asleep! The fact that the projector provides the ability to watch and share anything wherever you are, makes it a unique and brilliant tool.
This was also the case for the JBL SoundBoost Speaker. Again, the fact that this allowed me to play music wherever I was, and with great quality, was superb. I often listen to music on my phone, whether I am on site, on set or packing Sarah Delivered boxes in the office. I always enjoy a few tunes to keep me motivated. This speaker Moto Mod was well-used and the fact that it is so easy to attach makes it all that more useful.
I need to take photos for all kinds of things: social media, design ideas, important family moments, and so on. So it was important for me that the Moto Z was able to take high-quality photos. I wasn’t disappointed, but what made it even better was the Hasselblad True Zoom Moto Mod that gave me 10x more optical zoom. This allowed me take photos from all angles and not miss a detail.
Battery life is one of the key factors of smartphones and the amount I use mine requires it to have a long-lasting battery. The Moto Z’s battery life was good, I didn’t have many problems with it, but what made the big difference was the Incipio offGRID Power Pack, an extra battery pack, that you can just snap on if you need that extra boost. I must admit I sometimes forget to charge my phone so this was a lifesaver when I needed to make that important phone call.
The addition of Moto Z and Moto Mods to the smartphone market is welcomed, and it comes with new and interesting add-ons that will certainly make its competitors and those on the look-out for a new phone stand-up and take notice.
